The first step is for you to give me all the known information you have about your ancestors, whether fact or heresay. It is important to differentiate between the two! This can be done by email or by telephone. I will then go away and assess the difficulty or straightforwardness of the project, and come back to you with a quote.

If this is acceptable, then you pay a 50% deposit, and I get to work!

The time scale is difficult to judge, but the project is usually complete within three months. This does depend on how many times I have to send away for birth, marriage or death certificates in order to verify the correct line, as each certificate takes around two weeks to arrive.

Finally, I will present you with a large format printed wall chart of your entire family tree, and a navigable cd containing the tree, all notes, photos, source references etc  plus numerous original images of census returns and other documents accessed during the research.

For obvious reasons, my research usually ends within the limitations of the data available on the internet. However, visits to UK archives, churchyards and Family History Societies can be discussed if required, though costs will of course escalate in line with what is required!
